TherHab Fitness Certification FAQS
ARE THERE PREREQUISITES FOR GROUPHAB CERTIFICATIONS?
Yes, any person wanting to become a licensed TherHab Fitness instructor must be an PT. OT, PTA or COTA
OR have a group fitness certification through the ACSM (CPT, EC-P, CEP, Group Exercise Instructor etc.), and have at least an undergraduate or graduate degree in health sciences. (Exercise and Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Nursing, PTA, DPT, etc.) Group fitness instructors would need to partner with a PT/OT to deliver the program.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I'M CERTIFIED?
After completing the instructor training, you will have access to evidence based structured programing and the confidence and knowledge to begin teaching whenever you feel like you are ready. TherHab Fitness Certified individuals act as independent contractors, giving them the freedom to set there own schedule, set there own pricing, terms of agreements, etc.
HOW LONG IS A THERHAB FITNESS VALID?
After receiving your certificate of completion, the license is valid for one year. TherHab Fitness always encourages it's instructors to broaden their horizons, and stay up to date with the latest research being done. To help TherHab Fitness instructors maintain their status, TherHab fitness has numerous amounts of opportunities annually to renew your certifications.
MY FACILITY WANTS TO HOST THERHAB FITNESS, HOW DO I MAKE THIS HAPPEN?
If you, or a facility you know is be interested in hosting a TherHab Fitness Workshop, please send an email to If there is a high enough demand in your area, and your facility meets the requirements, you will be contacted shortly by a TherHab Fitness Specialist.
HOW WOULD I GO ABOUT RENEWING MY CERTIFICATE AFTER ONE YEAR?
Renew your TherHab Fitness Instructor License by paying the associated renewal fee.
By joining the TherHab Fitness team you will receive information about new research, journal articles, and marketing tips to help ensure your continued success. You will also receive a username and password to our TherHab Fitness continuing education site, where you can complete online courses to renew your license when the time comes.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR INSTRUCTOR TRAINING?
To find the workshops happening in your area you can navigate to the "workshop" page on the menu bar at the top of the page.
IF I REGISTER FOR INSTRUCTOR TRAINING, BUT CANNOT ATTEND, CAN I REGISTER FOR ANOTHER TRAINING PROGRAM IN THE FUTURE?
If you are unable to attend the training program, you can transfer your payment to another training time. Please keep in mind that a transfer fee of $30 USD will be applied and that you are responsible for any possible difference in price (due to early/late registration)
I REGISTERED FOR A CERTIFICATION COURSE BUT HAD TO CANCEL, WHAT DO I DO?
1. You can request a refund. If you cancel your registration 21 or more days (i.e. 21, 22, 23 days) before your training date, there will be a $25 USD cancellation fee. A $75 USD cancellation fee will apply for all cancellation requests received within 21 days or less (i.e. 20, 19, 18 days) from your training date or any time after your training date.
2. You can transfer your registration to another course. If you transfer 21 or more days (i.e. 21, 22, 23 days) before your training date, there is a $5 USD transfer fee due at the time of the transfer. If you transfer less than 21 days (i.e. 20, 19, 18 days) from your training date or any time after your training date, there is a $15 USD transfer fee. You will also be responsible for any price increases. (For example, if you signed up at an early bird rate and the new training is at a rush rate, you will be charged the difference in addition to the transfer fee).
CAN I TAKE PICTURES OR VIDEO DURING THE WORKSHOP?
Still camera images are permitted, however taking video is NOT allowed.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS INCLEMENT WEATHER ON THE DAY OF THE WORKSHOP?
If inclement weather is forecast in the area where training is being held, participants will be notified by 6 p.m. the prior day. If training is not canceled the day before, and weather conditions become treacherous overnight, Grouphab will send out an email by 5:00 am the morning of. A Grouphab team member will then call each participant individually to talk about transfers or refunds. (Please note that Grouphab Fitness is note responsible for travel fees lost due to inclement weather.)
WHAT SHOULD I BRING ON THE DAY OF THE WORKSHOP?
A course outline and informational manual will be given to each participant, but a pen and notebook should be brought to take additional notes. A break will be given for lunch, but if preferred, feel free to bring in your own lunch.
